I’m doing something a little different this week and sharing a video. I thought it appropriate that you be able to see me, as many of you have been checking in. I underwent surgery for deep brain stimulation (DBS) at the end of August, a treatment to try to improve my symptoms from dystonia, a movement disorder that many of you know affects my voice, but also impacts my entire body. My DBS was finally turned on last week.
At this point, I have a fun new gadget sending signals that… have already started to positively impact my day-to-day life! It’s working, and is likely to only improve.
All this has only made it easier to get back to work. I’m thrilled to be digging into a new project (announcement to come soon).
An ask: If you are or know a woman who would be willing to let me interview her for this project, I’m currently looking for two types of sources:
1. Women who have left the church, who grew up in churches that talked about/prided themselves on racial “color blindness” or had other attitudes about race that led you to question church leaders or the church.
2. Women who no longer attend church, in part due to their church’s stance on LGBTQ acceptance and rights.
If this is you or someone you know, shoot me an email at sarahstankorb@gmail.com.
